Who and why?

Effective business writing leads to efficient decision-making and improved organisational performance. Ineffective business writing has the opposite result. Without strategic planning and professional writing, many valid and important written communications fail to achieve their objectives.

The aim of this course is to make the written word work smarter for the organisation. Good writing ensures that messages are communicated effectively and that they generate the response or action desired by the writer.

It is aimed at anyone whose role involves business writing and who wants to do so with more confidence.

Course overview

How does a writer connect the audience to the key messages? Delegates will start by assessing their own writing style in this risk free environment. They will then focus on creating effective writing that is clear and easy to understand on the part of the target audience. Exploring structured communications techniques, they examine the impact of language and the effectiveness of clear messaging within written text. The overall aim is to help learners produce written material quickly and correctly.

Taking a theoretical and practical approach, delegates will learn how to write in a clear and reader-friendly style. They will be encouraged to clarify the purpose, objectives, audience and required outcome of any document.  They will also consider the business impact of poor writing.
